Today marks the start of a two-month celebration in Rochester of Harriet Tubman -- the woman who helped slaves escape to freedom on the Underground Railroad before the Civil War.
This year is the 200th anniversary of her birth.
The Harriet Tubman “Journey to Freedom” traveling sculpture goes on display today at 11:00 a.m. at Washington Square Park.
More bicentennial events and programs are planned this fall. Details are at TubmanROC dot com.
