Governor Kathy Hochul has chosen a new lieutenant governor.

The choice is Congressman Antonio Delgado, who represents the Albany suburbs, the Hudson Valley, and the Catskills.

Delgado is 45, African-American and Latino, and a native of Schenectady.

He is completing his second term in Congress.

Delgado replaces former Lieutenant Governor Brian Benjamin as Hochul's running mate.

Benjamin resigned his office last month amid a corruption investigation, and a new law that passed yesterday allowed him to withdraw his name from the primary ballot.
