Siena Poll: Racism Big Problem in Monroe County

A large majority of Monroe County residents see racism as a big problem locally.

A Siena College poll found over 70 percent believe people of color experience ethnic or racial discrimination.

And about the same percentage say discrimination is a very significant or somewhat significant problem in the county.

Respondents also back a couple of key solutions.

More than four in five say they support a jobs program that would encourage employers to hire those in poverty.

Over three-quarters say local minority-owned businesses should have access to more loans.
