State Mask Mandate to Stay in Effect

New York state's mask mandate will remain in effect while the court fight continues.

The state's Appellate Division has granted the full stay.

A lower court ruled last week that the governor didn't have the authority to impose the mask mandate without legislative approval. The state appealed that ruling the next day.

The mandate is in effect until at least February 10.

It applies to all indoor public places, businesses and schools.

Governor Hochul says the mandate keeps schools and businesses safe and open, and protects vulnerable New Yorkers.
