Perinton, NY -- The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is promising a thorough investigation of a crash in Perinton involving a marked patrol car that killed a pedestrian.
It happened around 2:30 Friday morning at the intersection of Pittsford Palmyra Road and Moseley Road.
Chief Deputy Michael Fowler says the deputy was heading west and was looking at a suspicious vehicle at the corner bank branch when the patrol car hit the pedestrian.
The 32-year-old Perinton man died at the hospital. His name has not been released.
The deputy has been placed on administrative assignment, while the crash is under investigation by both the sheriff's office and the attorney general's office.
There is body camera footage of the deputy's actions at the crash scene.
