Governor Hochul's indoor mask mandate takes effect today.
Masks will be required in all indoor public places in New York unless businesses or venues implement a vaccine requirement.
The goal is to reduce infections and keep people out of hospitals.
Businesses and venues with a proof of vaccination requirement can accept Excelsior Pass, SMART Health Cards issued outside of New York State, or a CDC Vaccination Card.
The mandate will be in effect until at least January 15th.
