State Attorney General Letitia James is proposing that New York taxpayers cover the costs of women in other states to travel to New York for abortions.
She says if the Supreme Court upholds the strict abortion limits approved in Mississippi, it would limit abortion access for women there and elsewhere.
James is proposing a dedicated fund to cover travel costs to New York, and the costs of accommodations and abortions.
She says Mississippi and other conservative states have declared what she calls "an all-out war on women and their bodies".
