3 County Legislature Seats Hang in Balance

Last night's vote count appeared to leave control of the Monroe County Legislature in Republican hands, with Republicans even picking up a seat to make their majority 16-to-13. But three of those races are too close to call...and will be decided by absentee ballots which will probably take the Monroe County Board of Elections a couple of weeks to count.

Republicans appeared to have 15 seats firmly in their corner and Democrats 11 last night. But with all election-day votes counted, here's how the three too-close-to-call races look:

In the 13th District in Henrietta, Incumbent Democrat Michael Yudelson trails Republican Matt Borkowski by 158 votes, 51-to-48 percent.

In the 16th in Irondequoit, Republican County Legislature President Joe Carbone appeared to be losing to Democrat Dave Long by fewer than 250 votes, 50 percent to 49 percent.

And in the 26th District, which is parts of Rochester, Gates and Greece, Democratic Minority Leader Yversha Roman appeared to lose her seat to Republican Orlando Rivera by 78 votes, 51-to-49 percent.

WHAM-1180 is not calling these races, and will wait for the absentee vote count to decide them. [There were fewer than 7,000 absentee ballots returned county wide out of twice that number mailed out].
