The Penfield school district is mourning a student who was struck and killed while crossing a street in downtown Rochester
Sixteen-year-old Matthew Bittner was struck shortly after midnight on Saturday morning on Chestnut Street, near East Avenue.
A 39-year-old Rochester man is charged with driving while impaired and unlicensed driving. And he may face more criminal charges.
The school district calls Bittner's death "a tragic loss" and has counselors available at school today.
