The nation's largest LGBTQ rights group -- the Human Rights Campaign -- has fired its president over his ties to former Governor Cuomo.
The group says in a statement Alphonso David was let go because his actions violated the group's core values and mission.
David was once a lawyer in the governor's office and recently advised Cuomo on his response to sexual assault allegations. The group says that connection caused “material damage” to its reputation.
David responded in a tweet, saying the firing was unjust, and said he is considering a legal challenge.
