A Batavia woman has been arrested on federal charges for an alleged fraud to collect COVID relief money.
Thirty-six-year-old Danielle Tooley is charged with wire fraud and theft of government funds.
Federal prosecutors say she and others knowingly used the personal identifying information of other people to collect unemployment benefits connected to federal COVID-19 relief programs.
The investigation began when troopers found six unemployment benefit cards in her car during a traffic stop in November in Bergen.
Her scheme cost the government at least $99,000.
