People living near Canandaigua Lake are objecting to a plan to build 116 rental townhomes that they say will add to traffic and cause drainage problems.
The project, called Canandaigua Shores, would be built on brushy land bordering the Canandaigua and Hopewell town lines.
Around 800 people have signed a petition opposing the project.
At a Canandaigua Town Board meeting last night, residents said the project is not in line with the town's priorities and the protection of the lake.
But engineers say the project is in line with the town's land-use plan.
The town of Hopewell will hold a public hearing on July 26.
