A six-year-old is in stable condition after surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital after his leg was run over by a lawn mower Wednesday afternoon.
The Ontario County Sheriff's Office says this happened on Mobile Road in Canandaigua, where a 69-year-old homeowner was mowing his lawn. He backed the riding mower up to get away from a tree stump, not realizing that a six-year-old boy had run up behind the mower.
The mower ran over the boy's right leg, causing serious injuries. A deputy and a state trooper put a tourniquet on the child to control the bleeding, and he was flown by Mercy Flight to Strong.
