Police in Holley have arrested a man they say tried to stab an officer on his second day patrolling alone in the village.
It happened yesterday evening in Holley Falls, after police got a report of a suspicious man antagonizing people with a steak knife.
Police Chief Bob Barton says the man lunged at the officer, put him in a choke hold, and tried to stab him.
Two citizens stepped in to help disarm the man.
Police are withholding the man's name, but say they've had contact with him in the past.
The officer is not new to law enforcement but is new to the Holley police force.
