The City’s Rochester Animal Services Bureau now offers temporary boarding for pets belonging to people facing eviction, hospitalization, domestic violence or other crises.
Pets can be placed for a month in volunteer foster homes so their owners don't have to turn them over to a shelter.
The animal services bureau has been expanding its pet support services during the pandemic.
And the bureau is part of a national study on the effectiveness of such programs in reducing the numbers of animals surrendered by their owners.
