Cuomo Says NY is Taking a Major Step Toward Fully Re-Open on May 19th

Governor Cuomo says the state is taking a major step toward fully re-open on May 19th.

The governor says on that day, most capacity restrictions will be lifted in the Tri-state area.

He announced that most coronavirus-based capacity restrictions will go away that Wednesday, including for things like Broadway, retail stores, restaurants, and museums.

That means restaurants, gyms and hair salons can be open at full capacity as well.

The Governor says there will be a work around if those business or services require people be fully vaccinated or show a recent negative COVID test.

Businesses can also get around the 6 foot rule if physical barriers are put up but social distancing is still recommended.

Governor Cuomo says the region's coronavirus metrics back up this move.

It appears this policy change will also apply for New Jersey and Connecticut, as authorities return to the concept of a "regional policy."

Cuomo says large outdoor stadiums in New York will be permitted 33-percent capacity starting May 19th.
