A report from the state education department shows the number of sexual violence reports at the University of Rochester more than doubled between 2018 and 2019.
The university logged 142 reports in 2019 -- up from 62 the year before.
In a statement, the UofR says the numbers reflect increased training and education to encourage students to report sexual misconduct and get help. The university says the effort has reduced underreporting.
The state report shows more modest increases at SUNY Brockport and Geneseo, and a decrease at RIT.
