Federal prosecutors say a 50-year-old Rochester man has been arrested on charges of using the mails to threaten death, injury or destruction of property by means of an explosive device.
James Pane of Rochester is accused of setting off numerous explosions, seen and heard by neighbors in the Falleson Road area of Rochester. The Rochester Fire and Police Departments investigated in January, and found doorbell surveillance video that showed a dark red pickup truck in the area at the time of the explosions. Police traced that truck back to Pane
Between late February and early March, many neighbors in the Falleson and Leander Road area received letters addressed to "homeowner," and warning that a person on Falleson Road owed money for drugs. The letter threatened explosions would continue until the sender was paid.
Police recovered a list of names from Pane's garbage tote corresponding with the people who received the letters. A search warrant was executed at his home Thursday, and bomb making materials were discovered. Pane was arrested and faces a hearing on April 13th in federal court.
