The National Rifle Association is countersuing New York Attorney General Letitia James, saying she wants to destroy a political enemy.
The lawsuit claims James is trying to selectively apply state laws governing non-profits.
James claims NRA executives improperly used funds for personal gain and she says the NRA should be disbanded.
Last month, the NRA filed for bankruptcy and indicated plans to move to Texas, after calling New York its official home for 150 years.
James has called that a "bad faith" attempt to escape her lawsuit.
