Military authorities will be trying to figure out what caused the deadly National Guard helicopter crash in Mendon.
Aviation analyst Jay Ratliff says the investigation will work much the same way the National Transportation Safety Board investigates civilian crashes.
Three soldiers were killed when the Black Hawk went down and caught fire around 6:30 last night in a field near West Bloomfield and Cheese Factory roads.
The helicopter was on a routine training mission and was assigned to the Air National Guard facility at the Rochester airport.
The Black Hawk is used by the military for air ambulance and other transport work.
The bodies of the three soldiers killed in the helicopter crash have arrived at the Medical Examiner's Office in Brighton. Police and firefighters stood nearby to honor the procession as it arrived.
