There are reports locally and around the country from people who say their $600 stimulus check was sent to an account number they don't know.
They discovered the issue by checking on the status of their check on the IRS Get My Payment website.
In most cases, it's because those people used a tax preparation service for their last tax return. The IRS sent the check to an account belonging to the preparation service and the money is expected to be transferred very soon to the citizens the same way they got their refund. It will be sent either on a card or in a direct deposit.
