State Police and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office arrested a man who drove the wrong way on the Thruway last night...intentionally trying to hit other cars and a pedestrian at a service plaza.
Troopers say the man drove west in the eastbound lanes near the Scottsville rest area, causing two crashes. The suspect then pulled into the rest area, where he intentionally ran down a pedestrian, and was approached by a trooper who fired his gun at the car. The suspect then fled and drove off eastbound on the Thruway while the trooper assisted the injured pedestrian. Troopers then found the car abandoned on the side of the road and spotted the driver who was arrested by troopers and deputies.
The suspect was not hit by the gunfire and was uninjured. The investigation continues.
