Governor Cuomo says coronavirus numbers continue to rise all across the state.
Today he announced that parts of Syracuse and Rochester are being elevated from a yellow zone designation to an orange zone.
In an Orange Zone it means that non-essential buisnesses like hair salons, barber shops and gyms will close, and restaurants can only do outdoor dining or takeout.
The statewide positivity rate stands at about 3 percent.
Meanwhile, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello and Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza are reacting to the news that parts of Monroe County -- INCLUDING parts of Rochester, Irondequoit and Brighton -- are now in an Orange zone.
The two released a joint statement this afternoon saying they are working with government partners, school leaders and the business community to meet the needs of those affected by the orange zone designation, and will be coming up with a plan to increase testing in the affected zip codes.
They also added that they believe schools should remain open as long as there is no evidence of the virus spreading in schools.
