Hackers have targeted a local town's computer network.
Canandaigua Town Manager Doug Finch says someone accessed the town's public file, most likely through a phishing attack, then demanded ransom to unlock that data.
Finch says no personal information was compromised, and that the public files will be restored from a backup.
He also says the town won't be paying the ransom.
