U.S. Sen. Schumer Wants U.S. Supreme Court Seat Vacant Until Election Day

The top Democrat in the Senate is demanding Republicans not fill the U.S. Supreme Court seat left vacant by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Chuck Schumer noted it was Ginsburg's dying wish that her seat remain open until after the results of the election.

The New York senator said all options should be considered if President Trump's nomination is pushed through ahead of the election. That includes possibly expanding the number of seats on the Supreme Court and eliminating the filibuster in the Senate. Those options would require Democrats gain the majority in the chamber.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg died Friday at the age of 87 from pancreatic cancer.
