There's new help for people in Monroe County at risk of losing their home because of the pandemic.
The county has committed $6 million in federal relief funding to make up to five months' of back rent or mortgage payments directly to landlords and banks.
Applicants will be pre-screened by the Lifeline/211 organization. Program applicants must be able to make payments on their own going forward. Income eligibility is capped at 275 percent of the Federal Poverty Level, or about $72,000 for a family of four.
In addition, eviction cases are being fast tracked in the court to speed help to tenants.
Residents interested in either program should call 211.
