The Rochester airport is another step closer to officially getting a name change.
Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announced today that he has signed legislation to change the name of the airport to the Frederick Douglass - Greater Rochester International Airport.
The renaming will not be official until it receives Federal Aviation Administration approval, which could take three to six months.
The airport administration will also need to work with the FAA to update official documents and certifications.
Bello says he is excited to have taken the first step to rebrand the airport.
