The debate continues over whether to rename an island on Canandaigua Lake.
Both the City and Town of Canandaigua have mulled over a name change for Squaw Island.
Many consider the term "Squaw" to be derogatory toward Native American women.
A formal name charge would fall to New York State, and may require federal approval.
