Rochester police say a man crossing Lake Avenue near Phelps Avenue was hit by a car this afternoon. The man was struck by a gray Acura that was traveling southbound and he was hit as he stepped into the car's path.
The victim suffered severe head and body injuries and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he's reported in critical condition .
Police have Lake Avenue closed both ways between Phelps Avenue and Emerson Street.
