Returning College Students are Urged to Follow Covid Guidelines

Students from around the state and country will be returning to college in a few weeks, and health officials are urging them to follow COVID-19 safety guidelines.

Different colleges have different plans in place for returning students.

Twenty two states are currently on NY's travel advisory list. Meaning that anyone traveling from COVID-19 hotspot states have to quarantine for two weeks after arriving.

At Syracuse University, students who plan to live on campus will have to quarantine for two weeks. The university is working with local hotels for reduced rates for students.

At RIT, all faculty, staff, and students are responsible for getting a COVID-19 test prior to coming to campus and must provide evidence of a negative result in order to be on campus.

At the University of Rochester, students arriving from hot spot states on the travel advisory list will have to quarantine, but will have the choice of doing a university-sponsored quarantine or an independent one. Details are on their website
