Customers of RG&E and NYSEG will soon be paying more for electric delivery.
The utilities have worked out a settlement with state regulators that will gradually raise rates over three years, starting in October.
The average monthly RG&E bill will rise by 37 cents in October, by $3.82 cents in the second year and by $4.14 in the third. By the third year, the typical bill will have risen by more than 13 percent.
The rate increases for NYSEG customers will eventually add 24 percent to monthly bills.
Under the settlement, some of the homes and small businesses hardest hit by COVID-19 will get relief credits.
