Governor Cuomo is imploring President Trump to take military action to slow the spread of coronavirus nationwide. In a New York Times Op Ed piece, Cuomo says that unlike other countries battling the pandemic, the U.S. has not been handing COVID-19 on a national basis.
Cuomo writes, "Can we slow the spread of the disease to a rate that our state health care systems can handle? The answer increasingly looks like no." The governor recommends beefing up the testing process by knocking down excessive FDA and CDC regulations. Cuomo also says the U.S. should use active duty Army personnel to expand hospital capacity, by retrofitting military bases and college dorms to serve as temporary medical centers, freeing up hospital beds for the acutely ill.
