The search is on for a new police chief in Irondequouit after chief Richard Tantalo announced he is leaving to take a job with Monroe County.
Monroe County Executive Adam Bello has chosen Tantalo to serve as the county's public safety director.
Tantalo has been the chief in Irondequoit for more than six years, and has been with the police department for more than 30 years.
He has a master’s degree in public administration from SUNY Brockport.
Captain Alan Laird has been named to serve as interim chief.
