Governor Cuomo has officially set a date for the special election in the 27th Congressional District.
Cuomo today issued a proclamation setting April 28th as the special election date -- the same day as the state's presidential primary.
Republicans had previously gone to court to demand the election be held sooner, but a judge ruled the governor has the discretion to pick a date.
The seat has been empty since Republican Chris Collins resigned in October and pleaded guilty to insider trading charges.
