A midwife in Yates County has pleaded not guilty to dozens of criminal charges -- including negligent homicide -- following an investigation into the death of a baby in 2018.
Elizabeth Catlin, of Penn Yan, helps deliver babies in the Mennonite community. Authorities say she does not have a state license.
She was accused of transporting a woman in labor to Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, where the baby was born. But the baby died as it was being taken to Strong Hospital in Rochester.
Other charges include unauthorized practice of midwifery, identity theft, possession of a forged instrument and falsifying business records.
Her next court date is April 14.
