Complaint Against NYS Supreme Court Judge Matthew Rosenbaum Investigated

We now know what led to the decision by State Supreme Court Judge Matthew Rosenbaum not to be sworn in for a new term at the start of the new year.

The judicial conduct commission says Rosenbaum was informed it was investigating a complaint that he created a hostile workplace environment during his entire 14-year term that ended in December. The statement says he made improper and -- at times -- abusive personal demands of court staff and indicated a worker would be unemployed if the demands weren't met.

The commission says that matter was "of such magnitude" Rosenbaum had to agree to never again run for a court seat. He did not admit to any wrongdoing.

The state Office of Court Administration has a separate investigation into Rosenbaum's misconduct.
