The Rochester school board is scheduled to vote Thursday on the layoffs and budget cuts recommended by Superintendent Terry Dade.
The district is looking at laying off more than 150 teachers, among other employees, and the teachers' union is planning several actions to protest the cuts -- including a rally at the school board meeting.
Students gathered outside the district office building this morning to protest the layoffs.
Dade says the midyear layoffs are needed to help close the budget deficit.
