Wegmans is planning to put a regional distribution center in Ashland, Virginia, just north of Richmond.
It's a $175 million project and could create 700 full-time jobs. Virginia offered grants and tax credits to encourage Wegmans to put the center there. Virginia has 12 Wegmans stores.
The Rochester based company also has stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, and North Carolina.
