Governor Cuomo has signed a new law that bans political parties from trying to change their name once it's been established.
Cuomo says it's an attempt to avoid electoral fraud from a party that might change its name to confuse voters.
He says New Yorkers have a right to know who and what they're voting for.
Once established in a gubernatorial election, a political party gets ballot line status in New York for the next four years.
The law was prompted by the "Stop Common Core" party changing its name to the "Reform Party" in 2015 -- a move elections officials called "bait and switch."
