Western New York Congressman Chris Collins pleaded not guilty on Thursday to new charges stemming from his arrest for alleged insider trading.
The new indictment keeps five of the original eight securities fraud charges against the Erie County Republican. It also drops two of the original eight charges filed against his son, Cameron. Collins entered his plea in U.S. District Court in Manhattan. He told reporters it was all part of the due process.
Collins also said he hasn’t decided if he’ll run for re-election, but is confident his trial, which begins in February, won’t affect his chances of winning.
