There is talk in the state capitol about moving New York's presidential primary next year from April to February.
Governor Cuomo also wants to move the June state legislative primary to coincide with the presidential primary.
Moving up the date could make it tougher for potential challengers to get the signatures they need to run against legislative incumbents.
But the changes would require a special legislative session in the next few weeks. If approved, petitioning to run in the legislative primary would start in October.
