Authorities say two men were arrested after a shoplifting report in Perinton eventually led to a police chase.
It happened last night after the men allegedly took Red Bull from a drug store on Fairport Road.
A deputy stopped the getaway car minutes later on Route 250 in Penfield.
The driver ran away, but the passenger got into a struggle with the deputy, took the wheel and drove off. He ran out of gas in the Village of Fairport and was finally arrested after a struggle with another deputy.
The two deputies were treated for minor injuries.
The original driver Matthew Wheaton, of Ontario, will be charged with Petit Larceny and Obstructing Governmental Administration.
The second man, James Graham, of Rochester, will be charged with robbery, resisting arrests, two counts of assault and other charges.
