A 79-year-old Rochester man was treated for smoke inhalation after a fire in a high rise complex for the elderly and disabled today.
The Rochester Fire Department responded to the 11 story building at 60 River Street about 11:30 a.m. Smoke was coming from the rear of the building, and firefighters quickly made their way to the 4th floor where they found the apartment the fire was coming from. They also found the resident of that apartment and he was taken to the hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
Firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to other apartments. The cause is believed to be burning incense.
