A Rochester man is accused of trying to cash thousands of dollars' worth of checks stolen from area mail boxes.
Dennis Morgan faces federal charges.
The thefts occurred during the past year in Rochester and several Monroe County towns.
Investigators say the break in the case came in January when a resident of Irondequoit reported the license plate of a driver who had been acting suspiciously at a mailbox.
A driver with the same license plate was seen taking mail from a box in Brighton in April.
