Gov. Cuomo Signs Bill Removing Religious Exemption for Vaccinations

New York State is doing away with the religious exemption for vaccinations. The legislature has voted to remove all non-medical exemptions for immunizations.

The measure was passed by both the Assembly and Senate and was quickly signed into law by Governor Cuomo.

Opponents are vowing to challenge the new law in court.

New York continues to grapple with one of the biggest measles outbreaks in decades. Most of the confirmed cases have been found in Orthodox Jewish communities in Rockland County and Brooklyn.
