The New York State Assembly Majority Leader is continuing to push for legalizing the recreational use of marijuana.
Assemblywoman Crystal Peoples-Stokes, who represents parts of Erie County, spoke on the topic at the annual NAACP dinner in Buffalo.
She was the keynote speaker.
Peoples-Stokes argues that legalizing marijuana would generate money for the state. She also believes it would lower the number of people arrested for minor drug offenses.
The legislation is struggling to get enough votes in the state Senate.
