An 83-year-old man is dead after being struck by a pickup truck while he was crossing Main Street in Hilton.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says there was a heavy rain shower at the time, and the truck was turning onto Main Street when it struck the pedestrian. The driver immediately stopped and called 911 and provided assistance until first responders arrived.
The victim was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, but later died of his injuries.
The driver was cooperating the deputies on their investigation. No charges have been filed so far.
