62,000 Pounds of Raw Beef Recalled Due to E.Coli Concerns

More than 62,000 pounds of raw beef are being recalled because it has been contaminated with E. coli. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the products were packaged on April 19 at Aurora Packing Co. Inc., in Illinois. The products have an establishment number “EST. 788” inside the USDA mark of inspection and were shipped nationwide for further distribution and processing. There are multiple cuts of beef included in the recall, including short ribs, ribeyes and briskets.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, E. coli infections typically occur three to four days after consuming the germ. Severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (often bloody) and vomiting can result after five to seven days. In severe cases, patients may get hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure.
