A two-story commercial and residential building caught fire Friday night at the corner of Clifford and Hudson Avenues, forcing the occupants to flee.
The Rochester Fire Department says everyone was alerted by a passerby and made it out safely before they arrived. They found heavy smoke coming from the second floor and flames coming from a rear apartment window. The fire started in the second floor apartment and was quickly knocked down, preventing serious damage to the building.
Nobody was injured and the Red Cross is helping two building tenants with new housing.
