Federal prosecutors have reportedly brought criminal charges in an investigation of the Rochester Drug Cooperative, a large distributor of opioids to pharmacies.
"The New York Times" reports that the Rochester Drug Cooperative was charged today with conspiring to distribute drugs and defrauding the federal government.
The New York Attorney General's office said the company sold more than 143-million oxycodone pills to customers in New York alone.
The investigation was disclosed last summer in a lawsuit by the former CEO, who claimed he was fired to shift blame for an investigation into reporting compliance for the distribution of legal drugs.
